I’m Thia Heimdal Boukersen, co-owner and founder of Boukersen Heim. My husband, Martin Boukersen, gifted me our family name, and together we’ve built a home for explorers like you. Originally from Vietnam, I’ve called Norway home for 15 years, embracing its breathtaking landscapes and vibrant culture. My heart’s desire is for you to experience the same awe I feel daily, seeing, hearing, and touching the wonders of this land.

Boukersen Heim is more than a destination; it’s a sanctuary for travelers. My vision is to make our offerings accessible to everyone, ensuring all can share in Norway’s beauty. As Tromsø grows in popularity, especially for the magical Northern Lights, we’ve welcomed millions of visitors. However, this influx impacts our environment and infrastructure. Our thousand in one story

My husband, Martin, is the heart of our family. His unwavering support for me and our daughter, Isha, through every high and low has been our foundation. When we launched Boukersen Heim as an Airbnb rental, Isha was just five months old. With no resources to hire help, I juggled cleaning apartments with Isha in a carrier, strapped to my chest or back. The physical toll was heavy, my back paid the price, but Martin held us together. While working full-time at a kindergarten, he poured every spare hour into building our business. Exhaustion tested us, but it deepened our love and commitment to each other.

Isha grew up surrounded by travelers from around the globe, each one greeting her with a smile. These encounters have been a blessing, enriching her life and ours with countless perspectives and connections. We are forever grateful for the warmth and joy our guests have shared.

As Boukersen Heim grew, we built a team—a second family. People from diverse backgrounds joined us; some stayed, others moved on, reflecting the ebb and flow of life and business. Today, our focus has shifted to our tour business, which we’re expanding internationally. Our mission is to create unforgettable, meaningful experiences for every person we meet, fostering connections that last a lifetime.
